Skype & Internet Calling

Broadband Phone Headsets

Headsets are a very good option for your internet phone calls. Many people prefer headsets because it keeps their hands free to do other things while they are on the phone.

Mini-jack Headsets

Mini-jack headsets are the cheapest and easiest way to start using your computer as your phone. The headsets have two jacks, one that plugs into the mircophone jack on your computer and the other that plugs into your speaker jack on your computer. You don't need any drivers and it will just work when you plug it in.

USB Headsets

USB headsets are a little more expensive, but not necessarily better than a mini-jack headset. You might need to install a driver to get your headset to work. The benefit is that some of the headsets have controls on the headset itself, so you can make adjustments while you are on the phone with out touching your computer. If you don't care about that, just get the mini-jack version.

Bluetooth Headsets

Bluetooth headsets are another good option for talking on Skype. They are usually much smaller than the USB and mini-jack headsets. It also allows you to walk around a little without being tied down to your computer. Many new laptops come with Bluetooth, so that your headset should work once you have downloaded Skype. Many Bluetooth headsets will work with both your mobile phone and your computer, so you only need to buy one headset. If your computer does not have Bluetooth, you can always buy a Bluetooth adapter that plugs into your USB connection.
