Mexico Vacations - Acapulco Activities

Golfing in Acapulco

There are three main golf clubs in Acapulco. The newest and most exlucive is Tres Vidas Golf Club. It was designed by Robert von Hagge and is right on the ocean with spectacular views. It is only open to members and guests of the Tres Vidas Hotel, so if you are hoping to play there, you might want to book a room. The greens fees are $144. Another very good place to golf is at the Acapulco Princess Golf Club in the Princess Hotel, where the greens fees are between $105 and $120, depending on whether you are a guest of the hotel or not. The Club de Golf Acapulco is a slightly less expensive golf club with greens fees of about $60.

Watersports

Acapulco offers most water sports including scuba diving, parasailing, boat rentals and sport fishing. If you are looking to rent a small boat, paddleboats or canoes Caletilla Beach will offer you some of the best prices. You can learn how to scuba dive for about $40-50 in less than two hours and then dive for about $40 per dive. Deep-sea fishing is very popular in Acapulco and starts around $175 for the 6 hour charter, but includes food and drinks.

Other Activities

Not all resort towns in Mexico are large enough to have a bullfighting arena, but if you are traveling to Acapulco between December and March, you can catch a bullfight on Sunday's late afternoons.

Horseback riding along the beach is a very romantic activity. You can usually find the horses in from of the Acapulco Princess Hotel. Rides are usually about $20 per hour and can be organised on the spot.

If you want to escape Acapulco, you can find some wonderful restaurants on the beach south of the Airport. You can't miss it - they will be waiving you down as you drive by. They don't look very fancy, but the food is excellent and you are sitting right on the beach. The fish is very fresh and usually caught an hour before you eat it. It is pretty safe to eat all the cooked food, but one should be careful with fresh salads, as they have probably not been washed very well. One should be similarly careful putting ice in drinks at these places. You are better off just drinking the cold coke or beer out of the bottle with no ice.
