Mexico Vacations

If you are looking for a great beach destination, Mexico has much to offer. It has great resort towns on both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, the exchange rate makes everything relatively inexpensive when you are there, and the people are very friendly and generally speak both Spanish and Enlish.

The four main resort towns are Acapulco, Cancun, Ixtapa and Los Cabos. Los Cabos is on the tip of the Baja California peninsula on the Pacific ocean. Much further south on the Pacific ocean, you will find Ixtapa followed by Acapulco 400km further south. Cancun is on the bottom tip of the Golf of Mexico on the Atlantic ocean.

If you are looking for an American experience in a great beach location, you will find many resorts and supporting restaurants and bars in the center of Cancun and Los Cabos that are basically all English speaking and with American amenities. If you are looking for a more Mexican experience, you will definitely find that in Ixtapa, particularly in it's neighboring town Zihuatanejo (closer to the airport), and Acapulco. Those are the two main vacation destinations for Mexicans. Of course, you can find a lot of Mexican culture near Cancun and a litte around Los Cabos.

There are many direct flights to all these resorts for the US and Canada. Because of the volume of tourists, you should be able to get very cheap flights. The high season in Mexico is around Chirstmas & New Year and then again around Easter, though they claim it's still high season form New Year to Easter, you will find things a little less packed and more pleasant, though still as expensive.
