The Presidente InterContinental hotel in downtown Ixtapa is a big, beautiful hotel with 132 rooms that is located right on the Ixtapa beach. The pool is one of the social centers of the Ixtapa beach. The hotel trends to attract the all-inclusive crowd and so has good dining, special night markets and loads of activities for its guests. There is always beach volleyball nets up for playing or you can watch the players while you sip a “chaquita” drinks which seem to go down easy on the beach.

La Casa Que Canta is an exlusive resort which usually requires reservations 3 months in advance. This hotel only allows adult couples and is perfect for a honeymoon. It's not on the beach, but it's on a cliff over the ocean. The pools are cut into the cliff and include some salt water pools at the bottom. It also has a very nice restaurant - again no kids allowed. It's expensive, you I'm sure you can find good deals online.

Other Good Hotels
Villa del Sol is anther very romantic hotel. Almost on par with La Casa que Canta.
The Westin Hotel is a great hotel with a private beach, but you have to use a gondola to get down to the beach with is a little bit of a pain. The Westin is a short cab ride from downtown and all the other hotels and main Ixtapa beach.
The Dorado Pacifico is a good hotel and usually a little more cheap. It's right next to all the other hotels and the main action downtown.
If you are looking for an even better deal Hotel Krystal is good, but just not as happening inside. The club Christine's is part of Hotel Krystal and open all year round.
Beach Rentals in Ixtapa
Ixtapa has many condos and beach houses for rent and are ideal for longer stays. The hotels are on one side of the beach and the condos are on the other side of the beach near the marina. The distrance from the beach makes it a much more exlusive and private part of the beach.
The best complex of beach houses in Ixtapa is Marina Iguana, which has very nice three story buildings you can rent. It has a beautiful pool and is the only place that has planted palm trees on the beach in front of the complex. The palm trees make it more beautiful, but also keep you cool when you are sitting on the beach. It is perfect for a couple or even a whole family.
The next best place in Ixtapa is Marina del Sol, which is right next to Maria Iguana. It has three large buildings with many apartments. This means the views from these places are better than Marina Iguana if you get one of the apartments on top. The pool is a little better at this place.
You can rent these beach condos for a day, a week or even a couple of months.
There are many other beach condos for rent in Ixtapa, but those would be the two top recommendations from years of experience travelling to Ixtapa. If you find a very cheap rental, make sure if has beach views. Some condos face the Marina, which is ok, but not as nice as the beach.
